Day 126 | Language Warning.... Sorry in advance

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more bizarre... I’ve copped a weird piece of feedback from one of my competitors about not wearing a suit and tie these days. Apparently I don’t look ‘professional enough’ for the job. Quick, Call the police. Jeans and Blazer instead of Suit and Tie each day was just the change I needed after over 12 years in this game (see the nice piece of 2007 evidence).

There’s always been this perception that you have to be in a tie to show people you’re that ‘sharp salesman’ and wearing an $800 suit so people think that you’re a huge success. It’s full of shit.

We are putting all our energy into our marketing and the way our properties go out to the world so the clients benefit and get results from what we do. I could be wearing happy pants and a hyper colour t-shirt for all it matters.

As the great real estate trainer Tom Panos once said ‘Wearing a tie means fuck all, they want a heavy-hitter, not a Groom’.

Nothing against those genuinely professional Tie wearers out there, but I think I’ll stick with the more casual approach, the baby blue blazer is here to stay.
