Day 1627 | Half a Dozen
Six. Years.
Sounds like a long time and when you look at how many days that is (over two thousand) it should feel like an eternity. But then you realise that time legitimately flies, especially as you get older.
These photos are almost dead on six years apart and the changes in Hudson’s face (and the extra wrinkles on mine) are astonishing to me. It was only yesterday that we were in Melbourne in a hotel pool with him almost too scared to jump in from the side. Fast forward to last weekend in the same place and the kid at the bottom was doing flips off the edge and launching bombs that near took all the water out of the pool.
We need to stop and smell the roses a bit, and for someone like me that barely stops to breathe, it’s a pretty scary revelation to know we will never have another crack at these years. Not even just as parents while our kids grow, but as humans near in our prime (or slightly past it) and with the ability to still do most things without a second thought.
So as we come into the colder months, grab onto the chance to spend time with the people you love and don’t forget to take care of yourself either. There’s no rewinding the clock.
