Day 980 | Let it Glow, Let it Glow
Day 980 | Let it Glow, Let it Glow
A few weeks have now passed since the very first Light Night Glow Run was held in Devonport. I’m not going to lie, when Brian Lyons first flagged the idea I really wasn’t sure how well it would be supported here (especially in the winter) but the second we knew that there was money being raised for kids cancer (through the legendary Tim Blair), we were in.
Brian and Amie worked like rockstars all the way from the very early stages right through to race week. I was super impressed by their energy and you could tell that it was more than just an event to them. They had a real purpose to get families out enjoying a night together and give kids something different to be a part of. And the late night to bed for those kids was an even bigger bonus, if Hudson’s reaction was anything to go by.
If you were one of the hundreds of people there, you know how amazing it was. Genuinely one of the best events I’ve ever been a part of. But let me say this, we as a sponsor were an extremely small part. Those two worked their tails off to ensure it went to plan and along with the volunteers deserve all the credit. The weather gods helped on the night but even if the rain had set in, I doubt they would’ve lost one runner.
The feedback has been awesome and we’ve committed to supporting the event for 2022 without hesitation. So get your glow sticks ready in advance, I have a feeling it’s going to be next level. Congrats again guys, you should be mega proud!
