Day 918 | Culture Kings
Day 918 | Culture Kings
Yesterday was a cool day. Hudson was invited along to a training session to watch his new heroes, the @nwthunder. We expected to sit in the stands and maybe get a random high-five at the end. What happened next was pretty special.
The big fella went into the rooms had a photo with the team and then was gifted his own Thunder jersey, fully signed. Like Christmas, but better.
While the team dissected the last game, we went back out to the court and were joined by the head coach Nick Haywood to chat about life in general but also about his approach to a successful group. His main focus? Creating a culture where there is complete buy-in from everyone. No exceptions.
And what we saw through all the interactions with the players was one simple key characteristic that rang true. It didn’t look like a chore to chat with the kids, something we actually noticed (and commented on) after each game recently. They seemed genuinely keen to engage with them, and the impact from that is far greater than they realise. That 30seconds of effort and attention means a whole lot more to young kids that carry those experiences with them for years to come.
We couldn’t be more impressed by the entire group. Skilled players, creative coaches and a sharp support crew but most importantly, really awesome humans.
You’ve got fans for life NW Thunder.
