Day 841 | No, Thank You.
Day 841 | No, Thank You.
I’ve been reasonably vocal over the past few years about always being super grateful for what we have. We as a business say thank you a lot, and in many different forms. From client gifts to a quick text message, it’s not about what it is but more about the thought behind it.
The simple act of acknowledging someone is easy and a lot of the time takes less than 60 seconds. But for some reason in this era of technology, we’ve all become a bit distracted and can lose the perfect chance to give someone a smile, and a sense of value.
Today I had a visit in the office from an unfamiliar face. I’d never met Kate before and she simply knocked on the door and after a quick introduction handed me a card. It was the second time in 2 days I’d been given a card out of the blue and I was genuinely (and pleasantly) surprised.
The card was from the team at the Tim Blair Run For Kids Foundation, a beautiful local charity that raises funds to fight against one of the worst things on the planet. Kids Cancer.
A quick thank you for a small contribution we made to an event they held, but the impact was huge to me. We are lucky enough to give to a heap of causes we are passionate about over the year and it’s these moments of ‘value’ that really make us want to do more and more. It’s important to do what you can and it’s even more important to use your platform for good. Tim and his brilliant team are the prime example of that.
When it comes to charity, you shouldn’t ever give just to try and get something in return. You should give because it’s the right thing to do. But when you get a simple thank you, sometimes it means the world.
Please like The Tim Blair Run for Kids Foundation and follow their upcoming events. They are absolute rockstars.
