Day 785 | Community
Day 785 | Community
On the weekend I saw something amazing. Something brilliant. Something special.
As a family we attended the Day for Bryn Parry which was set up as a fundraiser to support research into MND. Now while there was money raised (and quite a lot of money by all accounts), it was the sense of community that really hit home.
I was lucky enough to be able to pour a freezing ice filled bucket over one of the fundraisers, who just happens to be the principal of Hudson’s school. Chad Smit (a mad Hawthorn Supporter) was ‘forced’ to wear an Adelaide Crows ensemble to really amplify the embarrassment. But he did it, and smiled the whole way through it because he’s a stellar human and wanted to contribute in anyway he could.
The event could have raised only one single dollar and still been a massive success by bringing people together to not only support a cause but to support each other. It was one of the best events we’ve ever been to and not for any other reason than we felt like we were all a part of something much bigger than ourselves.
A huge congratulations to the organisers and to the Parry Family for what goes down as a beautiful example of what we can do when we all just simply ‘care’.
