Day 667 | All the... Small Things
Day 667 | All the... Small Things
2 years ago, Simone and I found ourselves in the most vulnerable position that we’d even been before financially. Another agency start-up from scratch with ideas that well exceeded our bank balance. It was either take the risk and make it work or fall back to a safe spot, work for someone else and resign to the fact that we’d had our chance and made too many costly mistakes the first time.
But we took a deep breath and went again. At times it wasn’t fun. During those rough times I made a few promises to myself that once we had built the agency up I’d actually try to enjoy it a bit more.
The shoes in the photo are more than just a new pair of gym kicks. I took a screenshot on my phone of these exact ones almost 18months ago and have since battled to justify spending $200 on them while we were getting back on our feet (no pun intended).
So late last week I said to Simone randomly “I’ve just ordered my shoes.” She knew what I was talking about straight away.
We have to reward ourselves for the grind. The effort that you put in might be to have a big nest egg of funds when you hit retirement age but you know what.... you might not get there. So do me a solid, go buy the shoes, the dress, the bracelet, whatever it is.
You deserve it.
It’s only a pair of Nikes but it represents a heap of work. I can’t wait to strap them up for the first time on Friday.
