Day 77 | Superheroes, Robots or Pineapples...
I get a fair bit of stick for my socks. I’m not the most fashionable bloke at the best of times, but I’m lucky to have a wife at home that makes shirts ‘go missing’ when I shouldn’t be wearing them EVER again.
The truth is, there’s a story behind my socks and it’s one that I’m proud of. Each morning (or the night before if I’m starting early) Hudson picks my socks for me. It’s a tradition that started a couple of years ago and what started as a bit of a joke escalated to now where it’s a routine. I give him three options and he picks what I’m wearing. He doesn’t ask what colour trousers I’m wearing or what shoes so he can make it all match, he just picks whatever he wants. I don’t ever question it, even though sometimes I should. The motto is ‘If he picks them, I wear them’. Simple.
Now it might look a bit strange sometimes and the last time I checked I wasn’t being asked to become a sock model but it gives me a smile each time someone mentions my weird socks and I get to tell them why.
It’s those little connections to our kids each day that matters, and one day soon he won’t want to pick my socks... so for now, I’ll wear them with pride.
